Protect Minnesota’s
Health Care Future
Minnesota patients deserve access to affordable, high-quality health coverage and care. Let’s build on and improve what’s working – not start over.
Minnesota residents are relying on our health care system now more than ever. We need strong, stable health care that meets the needs of ALL Minnesotans, no matter where they live or work. Creating an unaffordable, new state government-controlled health insurance system like the public option is not the way to meet this goal.
A state government-controlled health insurance system like the public option does nothing to address our top challenge: rising health care costs. In fact, it could raise health care costs and premiums and lead to higher taxes.
Even supporters of a public option admit that it will lead to the elimination of choice and control Americans have today.
The public option could threaten access to the quality care that senior citizens in Minnesota rely on, forcing them to wait longer for the care they need.
We need to build on what’s working and fix what isn’t in health care – not create an unaffordable, new state government-controlled health insurance system.
Nearly 80% of Minnesotans are satisfied with their current coverage and creating a public option system could threaten it.
Pushing millions more Americans into Medicare through a public option would also threaten programs already at risk including the popular Medicare Advantage program, which nearly half a million Minnesota senior rely on.
